International Liaison

Dr. Macherie Grant-Knight, Ph.D., M.Eng., B.Ed., is a seasoned urban policy expert, capital project manager, and interdisciplinary researcher based in New York City. With over a decade of experience across the Caribbean and globally, she brings strategic insight and advocacy to her role as International Liaison at the Foundation for the Disabled Inc.

Dr. Grant-Knight holds a Ph.D. in Urban Policy and Planning Sciences, a Master of Engineering in Architecture, and a Bachelor of Education in Construction Technology, along with certifications in sustainability and conservation. She has earned accolades such as the Top Mentor Award from UTECH (2024) and prestigious scholarships from Japan (MEXT) and China.
Her passion for advocacy began in high school as a dedicated member of the Key Club, where she supported abandoned elderly individuals and persons with disabilities through volunteer service. This commitment expanded into consistent support for children in need, particularly providing back-to-school assistance to families in inner-city communities in Kingston, Jamaica.

Professionally, she has led transformative projects as a consultant and advisor for governmental and heritage institutions in Jamaica, including roles with the Public Broadcasting Corporation of Jamaica, Ministry of Culture, and Jamaica National Heritage Trust. Her work spans sustainable urban development, waste management, and heritage conservation—areas directly impacting the quality of life for vulnerable populations.

As a published scholar and peer reviewer, Dr. Grant-Knight contributes to international dialogue on squatter settlements, informal communities, and sustainable regeneration. She also brings a rich multidisciplinary background in marketing, media, design, and public engagement.

Her role with the Foundation aligns her global expertise with local impact—championing inclusivity, policy reform, and community development for persons with disabilities and the elderly across borders.
